The Psychiatrist, in the Psychiatric Emergency Room, is responsible to provide diagnostic assessment and crisis intervention for patients brought from the community by Emergency Medical Service and referred from various community mental health services.  The Psychiatrist must assess the issue of danger to self or others and the need for inpatient hospitalization for psychiatrically ill and substance abusing patients.

To assist in the treatment management of patients with cardiopulmonary diseases. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures, maintain patient’s records; select and assemble, check equipment for safety and operate all respiratory care equipment.

The Hospitalist in the Acute Care Psychiatric Units is responsible for the medical/substance abuse care of the patient in the acute psychiatric unit.  The hospitalist collaborates with the Psychiatrist and the clinical team to provide safe medical and psychiatric and at times substance abuse care for the patients in the unit.
