Overview

The Team Leader assists in the direction of the day to day operations of the MMTP (OTP) program and ensures quality patient care, patient satisfaction, and compliance with all federal, state and city regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision to the counseling staff.
  • Ensures a full orientation program for new counselors and continued competency for current counselors.
  • Conduct in-service training to counseling team on evidenced based treatment strategies.
  • Assist counselors to identify methods and treatment approaches utilized to achieve the goal developed by the patient and the primary counselor.
  • Assess training and development needs of the Counseling Team.
  • Monitors medical records to ensure compliance with recording standards.
  • Coordinate and chair interdisciplinary case conferences.
  • Assist and/or intervene with difficult clients.
  • Evaluate performance of counseling team.
  • Participate in the Utilization Review Committee.
  • Develop written reports as necessary.
  • Create and implement educational programs to address deficiencies and enhance counseling skills.
  • Assist Clinical Director with coordination and management of the unit.
  • Participates in the monitoring required by the Joint Commission and OASAS.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A minimum formal education that includes a Master's Degree.

License, and Certification Requirements:

  • Must be either a CASAC, or Licensed Social Worker (LCSW)

Experience:

  • A minimum of two to five (2-5) years of supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of job-related experienc with addiction, and recovery.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of evidenced-based practices utilized in working with  substance abusing patients.
  • Leadership skills in coalition building and interagency collaboration, particularly during times of crisis.
  • Proficiency with Office PC's, Desktops, and Laptop software in addition to familiarity with Microsoft Office softwares to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, talking, sitting, hearing, and bending throughout the work day. 
  • May include some repetitive motions.
